New Medal Of Honor Warfighter Trailer Shows Off Mindanao Mission

Electronic Arts just released a new trailer for their new sequel to the 2009 reboot of their Medal Of Honor franchise featuring a mission taking place in the Philippines. It seems the exact location is in Isabela City in the province of Basilan, which is a place that many Filipnos associate with conflict due to all the Islamic extremist rebel groups presence in that part of the country.

The trailer features a raid on a old-timey fancy hotel to rescue hostages led by a Tier 1 special forces group which are most likely to be Navy SEALs. The city of Isabela also looks like its flooded from a hurricane with part of the level featuring knee-high floodwater. We also get the typical military shooter breaching sequences and a high speed watercraft escape sequence.

Personally, I don't really mind that the Philippines is portrayed in a somewhat negative light (but realistic) though I gotta hand it to Danger Close for at least adding in a layer of realism with the city engulfed in floodwater (crazy floods are a norm in certain parts of the Philippines during typhoon season). I just hope that the floodwater isn't just some sort of set design and there is some sort of mechanic where you're not only fighting terrorists but also mother nature.

Mindanao Mission in the next Medal of Honor game?

In the new trailer for the sequel to the newly-rebooted Medal of Honor series, now focusing on real-life special operations forces (referred to as "Tier 1 Operators"), features a world map with a red dot on locations where Tier 1 has supposedly have been and will probably be featured in the game. One of those happen to be the Philippines. Look at the 0:54 mark on the video below:

The red dot in the Philippines points to the southern group of islands, known as Mindanao, happens to be an unstable region with plenty of conflict dating back hundreds of years with the presence of radical rebel groups that have ties to international terrorist groups.

The US military has been present in the Philippines in the last few years, it is no surprise to hear that these Tier 1 operators have probably been there before, it would be cool to see a secret mission in a video game that takes place in a real location that I hear about in the news a lot.

Laser Squadron! Maskman!

One of the best things about growing up in the Philippines is getting entertainment from the East and the West. I watched those American cartoons alongside a lot of Japanese Anime, I know kids in the US had the same thing but we had more. A lot more. Not just anime but live action shows. One of these was Hikari Sentai Maskman.

We just called it Maskman as kids. Translated as "Taskforce of Light: Maskman", the Filipino dub called as the much cooler, "Laser Squadron: Maskman". Maskman was part of the long-running Super Sentai series in Japan, which made it into the US in the 90's as the wildly popular Power Rangers. We had the same thing in the Philippines in the 80's but it was the a straight-up dub of one of the shows.

FIRST! AKA I put a picture of Alodia on this post for no apparent reason except because you like her and stuff.

Here's a picture of Alodia. Has nothing to do with post but she's Filipino and nerdy. Totally relevant to my interests.
Welcome to my blog about nerdy stuff of a Filipino kid who grew up nerdy in the Philippines. So this blog will be just like any other nerdy blog out there but with a Filipino twist, meaning I'll squirt some calamansi over it. And some soy sauce. And some diced siling labuyo.

I'll be covering everything from vidya gheimes (video games), interweb culture, annie-may (anime), otaku culture, and anything nerd-centric that has anything to do with the Philippines. Well then, lets geek out, yo.
